I have a Perl script running on a Linux server that queries a remote SQL Server 2008 database. The script uses an open source Sybase driver, FreeTDS and Perl's DBI database layer to connect. The Sybase driver is supplied by DBD::Sybase and FreeTDS is used to talk to SQL Server over the Internet.
The connection string being used at the moment is in this format:
connectString = dbi:Sybase:server=servername dbuser = someuser dbpass = somepassword
That connection string works in the present environment.
However, the remote databse is being upgraded to SQL Server 2012. I've tested the connection and cannot connect to their database.
The new connection string for SQL 2012 is different than the previous one.
DataSource='someserversename.database.windows.net',Database='databasename',Namespace='System.Data.SqlClient', PROVIDERSTRING='Encrypt=True',TrimSpaces=1"
Is SQL Server 2012 compatible with the current environment?
